Tidewater Lock Gets a Makeover

It was a happy Halloween morning for Tidewater Lock at the downriver end of the C&O Canal National Historical Park. A large and energetic group gathered there for a coordinated clean-up effort.  Improvements included gathering up driftwood and trash, raking leaves, removing a massive tree stump and other unwanted vegetation, painting a fence, and installing a new reinforced barrier to prevent debris from entering the lock from the Potomac River.

Among the participants were members of the C&O Canal Association's Volunteers-In-Park (VIP) and Level Walkers groups, Thompson Boat Center rowing club members, and National Park Service personnel.  Thanks and congratulations to all!
