Meet at the parking lot at Edwards Ferry, Lock 25 at mile 30.84. (See Google map.) This is one of the 2025 Continuing Hikes focused on aqueducts. Attendees should dress for the weather, bring water and lunch or a snack, and be prepared to walk four to six miles round trip. Hikes are rain or shine.

At 11:00 a.m. the group will tour the lockhouse at Lock 25 that will be open for them us. The house depicts life in the 1860s. They will walk down to the boat landing to view the Potomac River and look across to the mouth of Goose Creek, Virginia. Hikers will then stop and visit the remains of the Jarboe store. They will walk across the bridge at the lock to visit the spot where the Jarboe’s home once stood. Next they we will walk down the towpath and visit the Goose Creek River Locks at mile 30.64. Then they will walk farther down to the Chisel Branch Hiker Biker campsite at mile 30.50 to view the Potomac River.

Then hikers will walk up the towpath to the Broad Run Trunk Aqueduct at mile 32. Along the way, we will view wildflowers, birds, the Potomac River at times and Broad Run. The total round trip of the hike is 3.5 miles.
