Attend this exhibit to celebrate America’s bicentennial with a fresh look at the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. This engaging exhibit brings the canal to life through landscape paintings, first ever 3D relief maps of the Canal, images of the Douglas sculpture and artist, historic and biodiversity imagery. It is curated by a research scholar and member of the COCA, Joel Cohen; pastel artist, Jean Hirons; and a sculptress, Wendy Ross. Come join us to explore the canal’s engineering feats, biodiversity, and its place as a National Historical Park since 1971. Discover how this 184-mile corridor continues to offer a rare blend of history and wilderness in the heart of a bustling metropolis, and what effects this has on the park. Taken all together, a richer story of art, nature and preservation awaits.
