We are pleased to announce a new Association event: the Friends and Family Summer Picnic! This is a social event with games and an optional hike. Invite your friends, neighbors, and family—non-members are welcome and encouraged to attend! There is a playground nearby and a historic French and Indian War-era fort that is well worth exploring. Well-behaved pets on a leash are allowed in the park. This will be a potluck picnic with the Association providing fried chicken, drinks, utensils, and paper products. Note: this is an alcohol-free event.
When: June 28, 2026, arrival 12:00-12:30, meal at 1:00
Where: Fort Frederick State Park, 11100 Fort Frederick Rd, Big Pool, MD 21711. Follow the signs to the Picnic Area/Shelter. We have reserved the shelter at the back of the picnic area past the playground.
Cost: Park admission: MD residents $3 per vehicle; out-of-state residents, $5 per vehicle. Cash (exact change) is needed for the self-serve pay box located in front of the playground.
What to bring: one side dish or dessert to share. Recommended: outdoor chairs. Optional: insect repellant, sunscreen, games suitable for outdoors, such as Jenga
