Jon Wolz will lead a hike to the site of the quarry that was the source of the Potomac Marble used in the construction of the U.S. Capitol.

Rendezvous at 10:30 a.m. at Dickerson Conservation Park parking lot. The group will walk downstream to milepost 38 and then leave the towpath to investigate Benjamin Latrobe’s marble quarry on the berm side just a short distance away. Please remember to bring your mask. The walk will be 3.6 miles roundtrip.

Paul Kreingold, who has written about the quarry, will join the group.
